What satisfies you?  Perhaps I should ask the question in a different way:  Are you satisfied?

When I first began this pen drawing called Satisfy I drew the rock and then water flowing from it.  I was reminded of the Israelites in the desert when Moses brought forth water to quench their thirst.  God was faithful to provide for them and He provided above and beyond what they could have ever imagined.

To satisfy means to “fulfill a desire or need; it also means to provide” (Google dictionary).  A couple synonyms are quench and fill.  The Israelites truly understood the physical miracle of God’s provision in the desert.  They had manna and they had water, all provided supernaturally.  Most importantly they had God’s Presence, for He was with them in the pillar of fire and cloud.  Day and night God walked with them and His Presence was made known.  God talked through Moses and gave His commands and promises which were sweet like honey, for they were life to His chosen people.

“How sweet are your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth!” – Psalm 119:103

It’s incredible how much God loved the Israelites and how He satisfied them with physical food and drink, and also with spiritual food and drink.  The same Rock (Jesus) that accompanied the Israelites through the desert is the same Rock that is with us today.  He is our spiritual food and drink.

“They all ate the same spiritual food and drank the same spiritual drink; for they drank from the spiritual rock that accompanies them, and that rock was Christ.” – 1 Corinthians 10:3-4

Satisfy encourages me to hunger and thirst for more of the Lord.  It makes me want to open my mouth wide so that God will fill it with all good things.  I long to be satisfied with Him.  I long to be filled with honey from the Rock, which is Jesus!

“I am the Lord your God, who brought you up out of Egypt. Open wide your mouth and I will fill it…But you would be fed with the finest of wheat; with honey from the rock I would satisfy you.” – Psalm 81:10, 16
