Are you a good record keeper?  Do you keep up with numbers, such as the number of days you are exercising and dieting, knowing how much money is in your bank account, records of doctor appointments, cellphone bills, taxes, and even high school/college grades?  Perhaps you are counting down the days until important meetings, events, summer vacation plans, or retirement.  If you think about it, we all have records, whether we are good at keeping them or not.

Our lives also revolve around information that others keep of us, such as government, hospital, church, school, bank, and business records.  Many of these are confidential and some public.  No matter what kind, they are important for life.

Did you know God is also a record keeper?  He’s actually very good with numbers and knows them quite well.  What does he record and keep tally of?

According to the Bible, He records “all the days ordained” for us.  Psalm 139:16 says, “All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.”  How amazing that God keeps track of all the days of all our lives!  Every hour, every minute, every second is written in His book.  He is constantly thinking of us and we are never hidden from His sight.  He knows us intimately and personally.  “O Lord, you have searched me and you know me.  You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar.  You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways” (Psalm 139:1-3).  God’s thoughts for us are so numerous that they “outnumber the grains of sand” (Psalm 139:17-18).  Don’t forget the grains of sand include all the grains of sand on the beaches’ shores and in the oceans’ deep.  Incredible!  God knows our days and even knows the number of hairs on top of our head (no matter how many or how few).  “And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered” (Matthew 10:30).  He cares for us that much!

Tears In A Bottle is another way in which God expresses his compassionate heart towards us.  In this new illustration, I felt God reminding me that He knows every tear I cry and every heartache I experience.  Each tear is precious to Him, because I am precious to Him.

When you cry, remember God is collecting your tears, recording your sorrows, and listening to your heart.  Each tear, each drop, He knows, because as your Father, He sees you and cares for you.  He loves you.  Unconditionally.  He loves you, because you are His child.

“You keep track of all my sorrows.  You have collected all my tears in your bottle.  You have recorded each one in your book” (Psalm 56:8, New Living Translation).
